SUPER BOWL PREGAME: Eat, Drink, and Be Broke

About $1,000 worth of food at the Super Bowl

About $1,000 worth of food at the Super Bowl

TAMPA, Fla. — Anyone who didn’t eat a lot before they came to the Super Bowl will either be hungry or poor by day’s end.

The prices of concessions at Raymond James Stadium for this event is no concession to hard economic times.

Examples:

Footlong hot dog, sausage or bratwurst — $12

regular hot dog — $8

French fries — $7

soda — $7

porkloin sandwich — $15

carved turkey sandwich — $15

barbecue chicken or pork nachos — $12

slice of pizza — $9

pulled pork sandwich — $12

souvenir draft beer — $10

Gameday sushi — $25

Grey Goose vodka, Petron tequila and 10 Cane Rum all have their own stands in the enclosed lower concourse of the stadium. They didn’t post their prices. I didn’t inquire.

You know what they say. If you have to ask, you can’t afford it. Plus, I’m working.
